9 mile errand ride

Had to go to Time Warner in the middle of the day, so I decided to take my bike. Riding up University is hard! I didn't make it to my goal of 100 miles this week, but I've decided to take it easy for the next few days to rest up for the tri.

29 mile bike ride on 34/34B

I set out to ride 30 miles. I was catsitting so first I rode through downtown to feed the cat. I then went up 34 along the lake, a ride I did many times when I was living downtown. I was able to make it all the way up the hill without pausing. I knew I'm in much better shape than before, but it's nice to see evidence of it. I listened to my iPod for the first time during this ride, and it wasn't nearly as dangerous as I thought it would be (especially with only one ear bud in). I have mixed feelings about this. I enjoy being alone in my own thoughts for a few hours, but it can get boring to ride alone all the time. The distance felt very long, and I've decided that 30 miles is too long for a weekday evening.

23 mile ride around Yellow Barn

I'm still on Europe time so I set off Sunday at 8AM for a ride. There are no cars out at this time, and you can go 20 minutes at a time without seeing another person. Very peaceful. This route was hilly!

16 mile ride to Ringwood Rd.

After 2 weeks of eating, drinking, and lazying my way around Europe, it's time to get serious about the triathlon. I set a goal of doing 100 miles this week.

13 mile practice triathlon ride

The triathlon organizers set up a practice ride to orient us to the route. It took me 59 minutes, riding at a comfortable but fast pace. My aim is to do the ride in 50 minutes.

21 mile White Church ride

This is quickly becoming my favorite route for a fast, easy 20 mile ride. It's about the flattest ride that's available near my house, with only a slight downhill on the way into Brooktondale and then a steep exit up German Cross Rd.
